so this is what my trash can next to my sewing desk most often looks like. kind of pretty actually? i really throw away such a very little amount of fabric, using every last little bit i can.
my girls came up with a little project to use even the pieces i deemed unusable. a little construction paper, glue, and mommy's "trash", and viola! art! well... at least it kept them busy for a bit.

My oldest does the same thing! Even when I am paper crafting, she will take the littlest pieces and she will become an "artest" lol I love her imagination and such a simple thing really keeps them busy! =]
How cute! My daughter would love that!!!
I am a quilter and I have a trash can full of the same itty bitty pieces. I save them in a large ziplock bag until I have enough to use as stuffing for a doll or pillow. I'm going to save your idea for when my two little granddaughters get old enough to use it!
Ha! I just found your blog from Tip Junkie. My daughter absolutely loves to play with stuff like that, she begs me for the scraps. Little budding crafty entrepreneurs!
I would like to buy some of this artwork! Would the girls be interested in gluing on white paper? Similar colors, cutting the pieces to into small 1" bits and gluing to form a big G? or spelling out GIA?
Let me know!
dumb sock - email me at thepleatedpoppy.blogspot and we can figure out the details!
Neat idea! I spend some time every couple of months cutting up my scraps into pieces about an inch square. (Very roughly!!!) I then give my girls needle and thread and they thread them into beautiful garlands! They spend hours making them...and decorating with them!
